Rebekah Anderson reads from "The Grand Promise"

Local author Rebekah Anderson will speak about her debut novel, “The Grand Promise” at Village Books in Bellingham, Wash.  The event starts t at 6 p.m. in the Readings Gallery.

“The Grand Promise” is a work of literary fiction about the real communities impacted by the construction of the Grand Coulee Dam in the 1930s, including the destruction of salmon runs and traditional sites of the local tribes along the Columbia River. Kirkus Reviews calls “The Grand Promise” “a thoughtful look at desperation brought about by early-20th-century American enterprise,” and Publishers Weekly says, Anderson’s enthralling literary novel addresses the human cost of a Depression-era public works project in Washington.”

Registration is required for a reserved seat, and any remaining seats will be available at the door. A $5 ticket acts as a voucher toward the purchase of merchandise from Village Books. WWU students may attend free of charge.
